BIPOC Clothing Swap

2-4PM
ANUSA Balcony, Di Riddell Student Centre
In the run up to the inaugural BIPOC ball, the BIPOC department is holding an autonomous Formal Wear Swap! This event aims to provide everybody the chance to wear clothes that make them feel amazing at the Ball, all while making friends in the process. Participants will be able to borrow, swap and gift formal under the rules stipulated by the BIPOC department. The event will run in person, as well as through a Facebook group for individuals unable to make the event. All Facebook transactions will be completed through the BIPOC department to reduce issues concerning shipping/postage fees. Students will be asked to check in and follow all mandatory COVID restrictions.

Key specifications – All items must be clean prior to the event and must be returned to the owner clean unless otherwise specified by the owner of the garment. If damage occurs to the item, the party borrowing the garment will be liable to compensate the owner of the item. The BIPOC department will keep a register of garments that are borrowed, gifted or swapped as well as photos of the garments before and after the event to ensure that all parties are happy!

Borrow
- The item of clothing is being lent from one party to another. This means that the item of clothing must be returned by the given date (within 1 week after the event on the 5th of August). Items are to be returned to the BIPOC department exec who will then return the item to the original owner. The BIPOC department asks that the utmost care be taken when using someone else’s clothing.

Swap
- Swaps can involve gifting or may be borrowing. One item of clothing must be exchanged for another to constitute a swap. Under the rules of the swap, there is no cleaning fee for the item of clothing. However, the BIPOC department asks that the utmost care be taken when using someone else’s clothing.

Gift
- When an item of clothing is gifted, it no longer belongs to the person gifting the item. The new owner is able to do as they see fit with the item but we do ask for respect for the items of clothing or accessories received.
