Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. Emphasis on sovereignty never being ceded.

Officer Report

  1. Safe Space

    • Acknowledgement of Country to be placed in the space.

    • Thanks to those who helped set up the space over the weekend.

    • Remaining tasks: acquiring rugs, decor, lighting, and beanbags.

    • Reuse prints from Maria and purchase additional prints from Etsy.

    • TV setup to connect to phones.

    • Writing a Code of Conduct (CoC) that outlines safety principles.

      • BIPOC-only space, no one outside the community allowed.

    • CoC will include understanding what it means to be safe, with required acknowledgment from users.

  2. M Petition

    • Reshaping it to inform BIPOC students about available resources.

  3. Documentary

    • Interviews are finished, editing to begin.

    • Volunteers are welcome to help.

  4. SRC

    • Scheduled for tonight, report submitted.

  5. ANUSA Elections

    • Upcoming collaboration with BIPOC x Queer.

    • Week 11: Safe spaces and healing, concluding this semester’s introspective themes, with a potential shift to more external themes next year.
