Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional owners of this land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present, and emerging. Officer Report

  1. SRC

    • Scheduled for Wednesday, 17th April at 6:15 PM.

  2. Mental Health Taskforce

    • Task force meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 17th April at 10:30 AM.

    • Coffee catch-up next week (date unconfirmed).

    • Potential departure from the taskforce if no tangible work is assigned to BIPOC Officer/Department.

  3. Ursula Hall Report Update

    • Meeting with new DoS (Jenni) scheduled for Thursday, 18th April at 9 AM.

  4. Palestine Chalk Mural

    • Mural seems to have been rubbed off; further investigation needed.

  5. Palestine Protest Walkover

    • Scheduled for Saturday, 20th April at 12:30 PM.

    • Reassessment of walkovers based on turnout.

  6. Disclosure Training for BIPOC Reps at Res Halls

    • 17 interested; 8 are non-BIPOC leadership from UniLodge.

    • Expecting delays in training due to changes in the SSW Team.

  7. Indigenous Panel

    • Looking to book in Term 2.

  8. BIPOC Base

    • Feedback form available at the BIPOC Base.

    • Access granted to 118 students.

    • Pending items:

      • Contacting ANU regarding panel heaters.

      • Securing pads/tampons (BKSS may provide extra supplies).

      • Organizing a snack run (Chia to compare prices between supermarkets).

    • Office hours on Wednesdays from 3-4 PM at BIPOC Base.

Secretary Report

  1. Library Stocktake

    • Completed; check-out sheets need printing for library operations.

  2. Volunteer List

    • Compiling a list of volunteers from all events and activities this year.

  3. Constitution

    • Working on the timeline for amendments.

Treasurer Report

  1. Chai ‘n’ Chats Palestinian Fundraiser

    • Money has been donated.

  2. Mid-Year Financial Report

    • All receipts collected in time for the report.

  3. Outstanding Invoice Payment Receipt

    • Receipt not found; Selena is chasing it up with ANUSA.

  4. Third SRC Report

    • Completed; general budget update provided.

  5. Funding

    • Received additional $10,000 funding and merch sales from department fete and market day.

    • Treasurer’s to-do list:

      • Determine ticket prices for the ball.

      • Apply to Woroni Script fund for Zine printing.

      • Pay Asil upon receipt of the correct invoice.

      • Compile a snacks list.

Social Officer Report

  1. Palestinian Fundraiser

    • Scheduled for next week; ticket purchases encouraged.

    • Sober reps to wear high-vis vests; Emalisa to create a poster.

    • Set up at 8:30 PM (putting up posters).

  2. Zine

    • Emalisa to reformat for printing once print funding is sorted.

Advocacy Officer Report

  1. Documentary

    • Great progress; footage reviewed by Selena, Abreshmi, and Raida.

    • Funding Adobe Premiere Pro subscription for Paria (2022 BIPOC Officer).

    • Legal document "Deed" to be signed by documentary participants; details being sorted with lawyers.

  2. Palestine Panel

    • Booking for Term 2 in progress.

    • Applying for a Kambri Reference Group grant to waive venue fees.

Publicity Officer Report

  • Promoting the Palestinian Fundraiser.

BASC Officer Report

  1. AfroJamz Event

    • Plan to host pres for AfroJamz event on May 4th (location TBC).

    • Discussing hosting a BASC event next semester on the Lodge rooftop for free.

    • Potential study session (date TBC).

First Year Officer Report

  1. BIPOC Talks

    • Good turnout; 6 people attended and enjoyed the event.

    • Chai and Chat event not limited to first years; first years wanting to branch out.

    • Sending a survey to ask what first-years want.
