Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. Emphasis on sovereignty never being ceded.

Officer Report

  1. Tickets

    • Early bird tickets are now available.

    • The theme for attire is flexible; attendees are encouraged to come as they are.

    • Clarification needed for the dress code with a Craft Mood Board for reference.

    • Organizing DJs; suggestions for BIPOC artists are welcome.

  2. Zine

    • Posts about submission links will be shared soon.

    • Seeking editors, designers, and artists.

    • Various mediums will be compiled; roles include bulk editing, filming volunteer, final project editors, and interviewees.

  3. Screen Printing

    • Meeting with Asil scheduled for early next week.

    • A screen printing event will definitely be held during Bush Week.

    • If possible, a session will also be run in Week 11.

  4. Bush Week Planning

    • Social team will be involved in planning closer to the time.

  3. AFEC x Chai + Chats

    • Scheduled for Friday the week after next; AFEC will cover costs.

  4. Ball

    • Collaborating with the Indigenous Department on the theme.

    • The theme should celebrate BIPOC’ness without alienating others.

    • Theme ideas include Chroma, Camp, Fun, Loud, Red Carpet, Under the Sea, and Secret Garden.

  5. BIPOC Buddies

    • Program launching next term.

    • Pairs first-year students with older students, can be in couples or groups.

  6. Referendum

    • The department will take the same stance as the Indigenous Department Referendum.

    • Planning an event with the Indigenous Referendum.

Advocacy Officer Report

    • Themes: Love (Week 10) and Home (Week 12).

    • Sessions at 6:30 PM in MR 2.02.

    • A door poster indicating the event in progress will be created.

    • Collaboration with the Indigenous Department on decolonizing themes, potentially in smaller groups.
